Hello! My name is Jasper Famous, and I am the 2025–2026 Upward Bound Student President. I am a 12th-grade student at Bladensburg High School with a GPA of 3.8. I enjoy long-distance running and cycling. I plan to major in electrical engineering on the pre-law track. After completing my undergraduate studies, I intend to attend law school and pursue a career as a patent attorney specializing in artificial intelligence intellectual property.

Fun fact: I know the entire first act of Hamilton word for word—bar for bar.

My hobbies include staying active through sports, being involved in my community, and reading. I plan to major in International Relations and pursue a career in that field.

I enjoy jogging—especially during the summer—as well as reading and watching dystopian television series. I plan to major in Health Sciences and Molecular Biology and am preparing to pursue a career in neonatology.

Fun fact: One of my dreams is to travel the world to help infants who lack access to medical care.

Hello! My name is Joy Oni, and I serve as the Lead Recruiter for the Upward Bound Program. I am currently a senior at Northwestern High School with a GPA of 3.5. Outside of academics, I enjoy singing, participating in community service projects, doing hair, listening to music, photography, and spending time with friends.

I plan to attend Clark Atlanta University, the University of Maryland, or Towson University, where I intend to major in Political Science with a minor in Business. With these studies, I hope to attend law school and eventually start my own nonprofit organization focused on assisting individuals with immigration issues.

Fun fact: I currently hold an internship that has allowed me to meet and work with numerous Maryland State Senators.

Hello! My name is Gabrielle Meikle, and I am the 2025–2026 SGA Event Planner. I am a 10th-grade student at Northwestern High School with a GPA of 3.5. In my free time, I enjoy singing, writing poetry, and planning events for various occasions, which allows me to express my creativity and leadership skills. While my intended major is currently undecided, I am excited to explore different academic paths and discover what best aligns with my interests.

Fun fact: I attended a performing arts school in Jamaica, which helped shape my love for the arts and performance.

The Upward Bound Program at the University of Maryland College Park participates in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The SFSP is federally-funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and is state administered by the Maryland State Department of Education.
