Welcome to the Upward Bound Program
The Upward Bound Program provides academic and career counseling to students toward the goals of admission to and graduation from four-year post-secondary institutions. The Upward Bound Program supplements its participants’ secondary school experiences by creating opportunities for students to gain self-esteem by enhancing their academic and social skills.

A US citizen naturalized or permanent resident.

Must be attending in the fall or currently enrolled at one of the following high schools:
- Bladensburg
- Central
- Northwestern
- Pardale

Must be a potential first-generation college student (student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree) and/or meet federal financial guidelines as defined by the US Department of Education.

The application can take 15 - 30 mins to complete. Please make sure you submit all the following documents with your application. *Use personal emails to complete the application, not student PGCPS email accounts*
- One (1) to Two (2) letters of recommendation (PDF format, school header not necessary, but preferred).

A copy of your high school transcript (or middle school if you are a rising 9th grader) (PDF).

Most current report card.

Family income verification i.e. copy of the most recent 1040 tax form or proof of income benefits (i.e. social security, public assistance benefits) (PDF) *If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email Mr. Slade (jslade@umd.edu)*
Admission Application
Application Deadline: December 16th at 11:59PM
Final decision letters will be sent & Group interviews will begin on or before December 9th. We will send Enrollment Forms to current and newly admitted/invited students ONLY.
